Regina citizen tips led to 30 arrests in 2012

Regina Police Chief Troy Hagan says citizen tips through Regina Crime Stoppers aided 30 arrests in 2012.
Regina Crime Stoppers received 765 tips last year, leading to 30 arrests, 37 cases cleared and more than $31,000 in property and drugs recovered by Regina Police.
Regina Police Chief Troy Hagan said police were able to seize $7,400 worth of drugs last year from investigations aided by Crime Stoppers.
Every tip called into to Crime Stoppers is reviewed by police and investigated to the full extent of the details. Hagan says each tip is important because it is placed in the file and usually complements information already collected.
"We are not CSI or the other television shows about crime. It's hard work and it requires information," said Hagan.
Crime Stoppers pays up to $2000 per tip dependent on the information and the average collected amount is between $250 to $500. More than $6,000 was awarded to citizen tippers in 2012.
